Mom had such a beautiful display of flowers this year in her yard. When you would stop by to visit you would smell the sweet fragrance of allysum, lavendar, and petunias. It is heavenly! Thought you would all enjoy seeing it!

Sara and the girls were with me for a full week in July and we went to the Averi Musuem for Birds one day and then on the final day we visited the Children's Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. It was a very fun week!

We enjoyed our weekly game: It has been a lovely evening with a beautiful view and refreshing smell of the trees in the back. One very dominate hummingbird has been guarding the feeder protecting it from other intruders; consequently we have not noticed the flurry of little hummingbirds enjoying their nightly treat. This particular bird is very aggressive and seems to be keeping all of the others away. We have had as many as 6 at a time eating out of the feeder. (At least Dad is saving on the sugar.)

on the importance of thinking positive:

Mind is the Master Power
that molds and makes
And man is mind
and forever he takes
his tools of thought
and shaping what he wills
brings forth a thousand joys,
a thousand ills.
He thinks in secret,
and it comes to pass.
Environment
is but his looking glass.

As you might guess, "as for me and my house"... comes from a scripture passage. Some of you may know where to find it. I have always loved the message of this scripture and as I get older I find that it must be the truth that I live by. When I wake up each day and when I lay my head down at night there is only one way for me to experience the abundant life and that is "by serving the Lord." And so... I hope that you will feel that my blog reflects the abundant life of our home. I want to include "thoughts for the day, recipes, pictures, fun ideas, and even some poetry." In small and simple ways I hope this blog will speak to your heart and help you feel that you are ... "here, with me."
